In some ways, a forensic analysis is akin to performing design computations in reverse. Instead of evaluating the adequacy of a beam under design loading conditions, a forensic investigator strives to determine the load that caused failure. While AEA’s main focus is in forensics, our knowledge and experience in failure investigations provides a unique perspective in design projects. Knowing why (and how often) failures occur creates an incentive to ensure that designs are performed beyond minimum standards of construction.
